President’s Letter

Hello everyone!      What can I say? If you missed this last fund raiser on January 12, you missed a very very good time! Hard as it is to believe, this show was bigger and more fun than the first fundraiser we held in December. That was one fabulous show and I’m impressed that we could out do ourselves. BUT we did, with lots of help from our fantastic volunteers. In order of appearance, Kim Mank, (silent auction), Jane and Bruce Combs, (door shift 1), Sandy Powell, (product person and all around huge help), Flo and Gene Curtis, ( door shift 2). We cannot do these shows without help from the volunteers. Also to the staff at Main Street Bar and Grill, a huge thank you, to all of you. And to our roving photographer Linda Deubner who caught it all. What got missed was picked up by others. Check out the pictures on this page and find more on our Facebook page.

Thanks too to the area musicians who so kindly donated their time and talent to the cause. You are all such fantastically talented people.  The musicians whom played that night are; Prof. Ken Z, Johnny Andrews, Junior, Bliss, Bobby May, John Barile, Frankie May, T-Bone Lightnin, Blind Dawg Benny, Buzz Anderson and Frostbite, The Good the Bad and the Blues. Most stayed for the jam afterward. I am sure I have missed some names, I can only thank you all so much!

We held our very first silent auction. It was fun and we made money! Thanks to Craig Perras/Crave Tattoo, Bill Hultz, Manhattans, Peace Love and Tails and Jeff Traxler for their generous donations, both service and fun! This to me is what The Black Swamp Blues Society should always be about… a group of people having a good time for a good cause…people coming together, being involved, having ownership of their society. As we start this year, this is the focus with which I’m going: growing volunteer involvement, increasing membership, re-writing the bylaws, reviewing officer duties, bringing back the board. Its a lot to do. Input from all of our members is desired and necessary. We can not have a good society without member involvement and input.  So, if there is anything you want us to do, look at, ideas you have, please call or email any of us. Our contact information is on the ABOUT page. We look forward to hearing from you.

Cheryl Christy, President
